Plein Air Paint Out
August 18, 2018, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Plein Air, or “in the open air,” is the tradition of painting outdoors, usually with loose brush strokes and compositions. The tradition takes advantage of natural light and live painting, rather than studio work or a focus on realism. Since 2009, the City of Snoqualmie has continued the tradition too – hosting the annual Plein Air Paint Out at Snoqualmie Railroad Days. Each year, adult artists of all skill levels, working in all mediums, gather to try their hand in this free competition, producing complete art works in just six hours or less.
The event begins at 9:00AM and culminates with a reception at 3:00PM at the Black Dog, which is open to the public to view the artists’ work and hear the results of the Arts Commissions’ vote for the best piece to be used in the next years Plein Air Poster, along with the second and third place runners up pieces with prizes.
