McClellan Hotel (1918)

This original McClellan Hotel (1918), as shown in this photograph, was split in 1941 and a portion moved down the block to become a tavern. The widening of North Bend way for US-10 (the precursor to I-90)  changed North Bend significantly in the early 1940’s. North Bend successfully bargained with the State of Washington to keep the main highway (The Sunset Highway) going through the town, which the state had originally planned to bypass.
