Sunset Garage (1929)

The 1929 Sunset Garage building occupies a prominent corner in the North Bend Historic District, and is significant for its association with the development of the Sunset Highway through North Bend. Originally built as a mercantile store, it was quickly converted to service cars traveling the highway.

This building exemplifies a 1920’s new architectural type – large commercial buildings of poured concrete. Streamlined, minimal in styles, and “modern”, these buildings represent vernacular versions of the Art Moderne style.
