Ray Thompson built this building in 1941 and today members of his family still own it.
Originally operated as the Thompson’s Cafe, it served guests during WW II and the boom of the timber industry. In the 1950’s, the business changed hands and became known as the Mar-T Cafe, continuing as a regular stop for over the mountain pass travelers and locals. During a 1990 scouting trip to find a location for his new series, director David Lynch discovered the cafe and the Snoqualmie Valley and decided to feature them as settings for his new television series. He subsequently filmed the now famous TV series Twin Peaks immortalizing the cafe’s cherry pie and “Damn fine cup o’ coffee!”
